X-Men Previews and Teasers

Click on the full post for previews of Uncanny X-Force #13, X-Men Legacy #254 and some new teasers and leaked artwork featuring our favorite band of mutant heroes.

To whet your greedy appetites, have a look at this artwork from the next installment of Young Avengers: Childrens Crusade which, if keeping to schedule, will come out sometime in the next four years.

Let's be honest, it's completely worth the wait.
The X-Men finally show up and it seems they didn't come for discourse. What'll happen when they see Rictor's powers restored? Are Tommy and Billy technically mutants? Can Storm join the Avengers already? All this and more.

The Dark Angel Saga continues, and by all accounts it will keep delivering quality stories, emotional Wolverine monologues, and a skillful, exciting return to the characters and universe of Age of Apocalypse. In fact, it seems some of the Age of A team will be coming back with X-Force to our reality (that's one way to avoid bringing teammates back from the dead.)

Remender has really hit his stride with the main team. His Wolverine and Deadpool are not only bang-on accurate, but unique and intense (who thought we'd get a Jean & Logan tension filled love scene these days?) Even better, he makes characters like Psylocke and Fantomex grow and mature and do new unexpected things. This is one title where I'm dubious about how it'll be effected by the Regenesis thing post-Schism, but as long as Remender's still on board, I'll be there too.

Here's the latest preview that shows Age of A's Nightcrawler joining the team in our reality, and it seems as if Psylocke, Fantomex and Deadpool will be sticking around after all.

Now comes the long-awaited, much-anticipated story arc on Mike Carey's X-Men Legacy wherein we see the return of Havok, Polaris and Rachel Grey-Summers, thanks to the dedication of Rogue. Her quick thinking rescue teleport starts off a bit badly as she's separated from her fairly new team (I can't believe Frenzy's on an X-team in space!) and taken prisoner by a group of space pirates that are very familiar from back when Rogue won control of her powers in the Australian desert, a couple years previously in Carey's run. They don't seem to recognize her though, so maybe I'm confused. Regardless, I've missed those three characters who have been Starjamming since Brubaker ended his Uncanny run, and I can't wait to see them back and where they end up in the whole Schism shakedown.

I'm going to be very sad to see Mike Carey leave this title, and in fact the title end in general. I think he's a fantastic writer with a deep fan-like respect for continuity who does ingenuous things with these characters and their histories and yet keeps everything grounded in their humanity. Legacy was a consistently wonderful (and underrated) book for years and I hope they bring him back soon. I'm also rather interested to play his X-Men Destiny video game (he wrote it) even though I don't play video games of have a console of any kind or can afford either. Regardless, it sounds fun and looks pretty.

Look out this week for more X-teasers as Marvel gradually unveils characters in their teasers who have been shrouded in shadowy secrecy. So far we've been shown Emma Frost, Sebastian Shaw (wtf?!) Age of Apocalypse Nightcrawler and Vamp Jubilee. Some of the shadow forms are obvious, but already there have been surprises. Marvel marketing really knows hows to play with us these days.
