Avengers vs. X-Men #1 Preview and Variant Covers

All AvX! All the time! Despite being about 2 months away from release, Marvel is stepping up what has already been an intense promotional campaign. And I for one do not mind in the least. Most of us have a sense of the tone this major Marvel event will be striking, and while it's probably not going to be a deep, multifaceted, quiet character study, it's going to be a hell of a lot of fun.

Check out some variant covers Marvel has released, followed by a 7 page preview of Avengers vs. X-Men #1! See how it all begins.

Ok, Hope distraught, having run away from both teams, in major doubt about her abilities and reason for being, that I get. But Captain Marvel?? Really? Looks the Avengers team that heads out into space to stop the Phoenix's advance to Earth get some surprises. It would be really freaking cool if Mar-Vell was brought back from the dead by the Phoenix force. He's one of the few superheroes to have a natural death that wasn't reversed, but still there's so much potential story matter with him back. Aside from the obvious Carol Danvers stuff, and Noh-Varr his sorta legacy hero, theres Teddy from Young Avengers who is his son, and Phyla Vell who is probably entirely dead thanks to Thanos but hey she's died before, maybe he could save her. Either way, didn't expect to see him on the cover. Great surprise.
Now for the previews pages of Chapter/Round One.

We've got the threat realized and the President warned. We see the Space Team of Avengers being sent to try and stop the problem before it starts. And we get Cyclops' instinctive strategy, a clearly dangerous and potentially destructive strategy but an exciting and understandable one nonetheless, and certainly such a different approach to the situation that it's no wonder him and Captain America will soon be fighting a war.

Can't wait to see what comes next. All previews shamelessly stolen from CBR.
