Billie Piper Weighs In On New Doctor

Billie Piper has firmly endorsed the choice of Matt Smith as the Doctor. Not surprising as she has worked with him on multiple occasions, and has also been a focus of press for much of her adult (and young adult) life and therefore knows not to stick her foot in her mouth.

But her opinion is appreciated, even if it is slightly devalued from her disappointing return in the finale arc of last season. Rumors have existed for many months now stating that three of David Tennant's final tele-movie-episodes of Doctor Who center around Rose Tyler as Defender of her alternate Earth, the one where she lives with a human version of the Doctor (who has no problem snogging and declaring his love.)

There is no confirmation on her coming back in 2009, but she's certainly not filming now, as she gets into the swing of being a mum. Tennant meanwhile has recovered from his very painful back injury in time to not only return as Hamlet to the Royal Shakespeare Company's final week of performances (apparently he's up there with "Olivier and Branagh") but to attend the birthday party of previous Doctor Peter Davison's son. The only slightly weird part--he's dating Peter's daughter Georgia Moffet, who played Tennant's daughter on the show last season. A bit like Dexter and Deb getting married.
